Stopped Clocks
Personal Project · 2024
Stopped Clocks documents hundreds of stopped public clocks across the United Kingdom. Users photograph stopped clocks and upload them to the platform, which pulls from council documents, local news archives, heritage listings, and historical records to research each clock’s history.
The collection of over 250 clocks includes an interactive map, AI-powered research, and a wiki-style editing system for community contributions. The project frames these frozen timepieces as visible consequences of council funding cuts and austerity — connecting individual local stories to national patterns of civic neglect.
